More Non-Owner Occupied Airbnbs Proposed in Bordeaux
A developer in Nashville has applied to change the use of a large piece of land in OUR BACKYARD to pave the way for forty-one (41) more non-owner occupied, short-term rentals (Airbnb, VRBO, etc.).
This is urgent. Notices of the proposal were sent during the holidays, and this going to be considered in THIS WEEK at the upcoming Metro Planning Commission this coming Thursday, January 11, 2024.

Get Informed, Take Action
I need your help. I don’t want to let the developers slide by. We need to organize, and I want to know who you are.
As a member of this neighborhood…
I don’t want to see developers and out-of-town investors profit without any gain for those of us who were here first.
I don’t want to have more hotel-homes built in our backyard that don’t help our property value.
I don’t want to see the nuisances that come with more Airbnbs and VRBOs — the traffic, the noise, the extra cars on our streets.
I don’t want to see us all lose the ability to be a part of this conversation and have our voices heard.
As a means to help us organize and discuss, I have set a meeting for this Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 5:30 PM via Zoom. Details are below. All in Bordeaux are welcome to attend.
Who are you, and why are you doing this?
I’m Luke. I live in the Bordeaux neighborhood, and have lived here for 4 years. I’m most recently joined by my girlfriend and my bernedoodle puppy, Arnie, with whom I hope you see me out and about in the neighborhood.
Most importantly, I believe that it would be in our neighborhood communities’ interest to have a dialogue with the applicant of the proposed use change.
Right now, I have asked both the applicant and Councilmember Toombs for a deferral to Metro Planning Commission to move this review of the proposed amendment to the February 8, 2024 MPC meeting. At this time (Sunday, Jan 7, 2024 8p CST), both the applicant and Councilmember Toombs were still considering this deferral request.
I believe that there should be a wider community discussion about who wins — and who loses —when non-owner occupied, short-term rental permits clusters like this are built. It’s happened in neighborhoods ALL over this city, and we have the ability to either be a part of it or let developers and buyers of these homes profit without us, clogging our neighborhoods with the nuisances that come with Airbnbs and VRBOs.
I’m not sure I want to live in place where that happens we don’t see the benefit from it as neighbors, and so I want to make sure my neighbors are informed and hopefully organized with me to speak that to whomever needs to hear it.
I do hope that we get the chance to be acquainted, and better know one another as neighbors.
Luke P.
